Grantmaking
Our grantmaking supports a wide, culturally diverse range of grassroots organizations that are working to hold America to its promise as a land of freedom and opportunity. In our role as a national public foundation, our grantmaking supports local community based organizations in multiple regions.
Our funding priority is supporting the projects and organizations of partners that complement our programmatic work in the areas of community organizing, leadership development, and building strong communities. This strategy also allows us to leverage our dollars to help direct more money toward projects that promote economic opportunity and social justice through collaboration with other donors. In addition, as a fiscal sponsor providing administrative services to pooled funds that share our priorities, we are able to support their work.
Our current grantees include grassroots community, labor and congregation-based groups in New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, the Twin Cities, and the San Francisco Bay Area that partner with us in our interfaith Community Organizing Residency program (link to COR) and organizations that offer interfaith seminary internships. We are a member of the Seasons Fund for Social Transformation, which supports opportunities for reflection and training that builds leadership skills and organizational development. We are also the grantmaking arm of Caring Across Generations (link to Care Campaign), a national campaign to secure dignity and respect for Americans in need of long-term care, supports and services, and the workforce responsible for that work. In this capacity, we administer grants through the Care Fund to organizing and voter engagement partners and local Care Councils. As part of our partnership with National Domestic Workers Alliance, we also administer grants for their Strategic Organizing and Leadership capacity building program.
