Stosh Cotler is the Chief Executive Officer of Bend the Arc. Ms. Cotler has twenty years of leadership experience as an educator, trainer, and organizer within social and economic justice movements. The Jewish Daily Forward featured Ms. Cotler in the publication's 14 Jewish Women To Watch in 2014 and again in the annual Forward 50 list of American Jews who have had the most impact on the national conversation.
Prior to becoming CEO, Ms. Cotler served as Bend the Arc's Executive Vice President. In her years of leadership at Bend the Arc, Ms. Cotler has personally overseen some of the organization’s most successful national growth strategies, including strategic mergers and affiliations. Ms. Cotler brings her experience in leadership development and organizational change to her management of the Board of Directors, the senior management team and the strategic planning processes of the organization. As manager of Bend the Arc’s expansion into online base-building and chapter development, one of the largest such expansions in the Jewish community, Ms. Cotler has helped give Bend the Arc an unprecedented ability to harness the potential of America’s progressive Jewish activists.
Previously, as Jewish Funds for Justice’s Vice President of Leadership Initiatives, Ms. Cotler developed and directed Bend the Arc’s influential Selah Leadership Program, which has trained over 300 leaders, including over 60 executive directors, in practicing transformative leadership for progressive change. She also managed other JFSJ projects and initiatives in the field of transformative leadership and community organizing. Ms. Cotler currently serves on the Leadership Team of the Jewish Social Justice Roundtable, whose success in part can be attributed to the impact of the Selah Leadership Program.
Prior to joining the organization in 2005, Ms. Cotler was the founder and director of an anti-violence organization for women and youth.
